How would it feel to fall in love with someone who is older than you by just over 400 years? Surreal, creepy, icky or romantic? 

Couple of months ago, I read “The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue”, where the main female character who is cursed or blessed (depending on how to look at it) to never die and stay the same age forever falls in love with a 20 year old man, just when she celebrates her 400th birthday. It’s an unrealistic love story but you get drawn to it nevertheless, even wanting to have something like this happen to you.

I love magical realism as a genre, Murakami being my favourite author. I’m always drawn towards fantasy fiction filled with beasts and monsters who get killed by immortal beings with magical powers. I’m already 40 and have had my share of disappointments with men who are either immature, over-demanding or just men who want a baby-sitter, for once I would like to date an immortal man who has lived for 400-500 years and knows what a woman wants and preferably has emerald colour eyes.

Last weekend, I binged watched “The Witcher” on Netflix, finishing 3 seasons in 1 go. The lead character, “Geralt of Rivia” is strong, sexy and with a husky voice that would make your heart do a summersault. The story line was just ordinary, but I was hooked to the series because of Geralt. If he was just a regular mortal human being, the appeal wouldn’t be there but having lived on the planet for centuries, he knew the art of talking with less words, skill of survival by himself and knack of pleasing a woman in bed and not to forget, he has magic and strength to slay monsters. He doesn’t need a woman to cook food for him or teach him how to fold clothes, he is a man who can do everything and more.

Pick up any fantasy fiction male characters – Vampires, Witches, Gods, Angels (loved Lucifer character), all of them possess some superior magical power and a mysterious aura around them, instantly drawing you towards them. They would be centuries old but will be eternally young-looking with an extremely hot body and an unsatiated sex appetite. 

As an adult, when you are juggling between job and responsibilities, it becomes really stressful to cope up when you need to raise your children as well as your partner. The idea of having someone who is experienced enough to share the mental load with you is extremely appealing, especially when he comes with a hot body and magical power, an age difference of 400 years is something I can surely live with!
